The ultimate objective of this workbook is to provide education for the strategy necessary to produce the wisdom and Spiritual fruit needed to create a battle plan against Satan.

Carl has formally taught this game since 2007, and still does. He has originated, organized, and operated many chess clubs, mostly for children. This workbook is also the product of Leslie and Carl both having lived through at least seven decades of attacks from the world around them. These attacks include significant personal life-changing experiences like suicide, Viet Nam, death, and divorce. Besides teaching the “simplicity” of the game of Chess, it also teaches, “… the simplicity that is in Christ.” It combines the opportunity to learn the game and the awareness of Kingdom strategies for life.
It connects the dots between the game, the Kingdom of God, life’s choices, and consequences, by highlighting some of the many commonalities between the Bible and the game. It also connects the dots between simply “believing” in Jesus (John 3:16), and the words of Jesus when He said His burden was light, He did NOT say it was weightless. If you don’t tell someone you think the game of chess is difficult, they’ll think of it as just another game; this is true for anyone who comes to class with an open mind to learn more about the glory of God.
The areas of application for this workbook are unlimited! It may be an invaluable addition to any after-school program, summer camp programs, recreation and senior centers, cruise ships, fire stations, home-school cooperative curriculum, and any location where people are gathered. Any God-fearing, Word driven, Born Again, Christian church would do well to create a living, well organized, Kingdom Chess program. While this program is helpful to any age-group, it may be most impactful in the Youth, Singles, and Seniors Ministry (research proves this game is very beneficial for the young and old). Many people are hungry for the opportunity to interact with other people, and playing games is a healthy way to do that.
Once this program becomes fruitful, it can be used to keep the alumni coming back into the building, even without a teacher. By glorifying God throughout this workbook, much is offered that culminates in gaining priceless information concerning worldly issues and the Kingdom of God. Both sportsmanship, and living life with intentionality, are a must, and while the rules of chess are non-negotiable, the laws of God are as well.
