The ultimate objective of “153 Fish” is to wake up the reader, and/or those around them. Most of this collection has been individually, and previously, published by Carl. Most of his work is Christian faith based resulting from significant personal life-changing experiences like suicide, Viet Nam, and death.
He readily confesses to living almost 60 years of his life fooling himself about his salvation; and because of that, he challenges the reader to accomplish at least two things: First, look in the mirror to determine if they are just fooling themselves when it comes to their salvation. And second, to share the information with their nonbelieving friends as well. Carl offers these three confessions up front.
First, there’s nothing better to read than the Bible.
Second, just like the Bible, there is some repetition throughout his articles.
Third, that repetition consists mostly of a common shout to wake up the reader with the awareness that simply “believing” in Jesus (John 3:16) won’t do much toward getting anyone into heaven. Even the demons believe, and they tremble. Satan wants everyone to believe there is no God (and no devil), and if he can’t convince them of that, he wants them to believe salvation is a “one and done process,” with many roads to heaven. Salvation is intended to be a lifelong relationship with the Son of God, and no one comes to the Father, except through the Son. Jesus told us His burden was light, He did not say it was weightless.
On the other hand, works alone will get no one into God’s heaven because He can never be bribed. Jesus also told us that the Way is “hard,” not easy. And He also told us that if we are “lukewarm,” He will spit us out of His mouth! Intentionality is a must! This book is full of the awareness needed to develop a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior. This book will educate each participant on the strategy necessary to produce the wisdom and Spiritual fruit needed to create a battle plan against Satan. (Number of words to be determined.)
